𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺)

The best leaders, ideas, and innovators don’t always rise to the top—not because they lack talent, but because they’re trapped in 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒆.

If you are being overlooked, here are 5 possible reasons why—and how to fix them:

1️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀

𝘌𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: A brilliant engineer buried in legacy code while AI strategy gets debated without them.

📌 𝗙𝗶𝘅: Align your work with the company’s North Star. Ask yourself: “Does this directly impact our top three priorities?” If not, pivot.

2️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 ‘𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁’ 𝗜𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵

𝘌𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: An ops manager who streamlined workflows but never shared the ROI in leadership meetings.

📌 𝗙𝗶𝘅: Build a value narrative. Track and share metrics like time saved, revenue unlocked, or risks mitigated—then make sure the right people hear about them.

3️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

𝘌𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: A VP who delivers flawless results but skips cross-functional coffee chats.

📌 𝗙𝗶𝘅: Set a goal to meet 2 new people a week. Get mentored by someone outside your lane. Volunteer for cross-functional projects. Sponsor a rising star. Get in the conversations that shape the future.

4️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗺

𝘌𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: A department full of 'big personalities' who drown out quieter voices.

📌 𝗙𝗶𝘅: Adapt your approach. Use written updates, 1:1s, small group discussions, or tell your boss you'd like to contribute on a specific topic so he'll call on you. Different channels create different opportunities.

5️⃣ 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁 (𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁)

𝘌𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦: Some voices get amplified. Others don't.

📌 𝗙𝗶𝘅: Accept it—and take control. Build relationships with key decision-makers. Know who influences whom. You don’t have to play games, but you do need to understand who the players are and pick the one(s) you want to align with.

💡 Great work shouldn’t go unnoticed. Being overlooked isn’t permanent. Small shifts in visibility can make a big difference.
